Lucky charms was the theme in MATS class this week. I really enjoyed working on it because it meant I could draw lots of different types of elements; animals, plants, talismans and random objects, which I really like to do. When I was doing my research, it also became clear that, chances are, pretty much anything will be considered a good luck charm somewhere in the world.
The only thing I found difficult was getting the tone right. Because it was a pattern for children's apparel I didn't want include anything that might be considered too occult-y or might be linked with gambling. In the end I decided to make all the elements toy charms, that way I was able to include all the elements that interested me the most.
